These days, nearly everyone has been affected by cancer in some way. While these stories are always truly tragic, nothing pulls at the heartstrings more than a child whose parents have fallen victim to the disease. For these children, whose life has been turned upside-down, is Camp Kesem.
Camp Kesem, founded in 2000 at Stanford University, has a simple mission: to support children through and beyond their parent’s cancer. For these children, it’s intended to be a brief escape from the stresses of home life that burden a household affected by cancer. Since the camp’s foundation, Kesem has expanded into 38 states, operating over 80 chapters, and supporting over 5,000 children every year at no cost.
To support Camp Kesem in their incredible mission, Agility Solutions held its first company fundraiser to sponsor a cabin at Camp Kesem. The company graciously matched any donations that came in, up to $2,500, to fully fund the $5,000 cabin. With the match, the company was able to raise $4,047.50. While this was the company’s first actual fundraiser, Agility Solutions
“Camp Kesem has an incredible mission, and we are honored to assist in the noble service they provide,” said Sami Ibrihim, the CEO and Principal at Agility Solutions. With their contribution, Agility Solutions was able to sponsor 16 kids (almost an entire cabin) to come to camp.
“In a perfect world, Camp Kesem would never have to exist. But cancer is very real – so Kesem is, too,” said the Development Coordinator known as “Curry” at Camp Kesem. “And if Kesem helps to remind families and children whose parents are affected by cancer that they aren’t alone going through such unfair hardships, that each and every person connected with Kesem is supported by thousands of people across the country in similar circumstances, that is really something special.”
